Amnat School is a government high school located in Amnat Charoen province in the north east of Thailand (Isaan).  The school is a Mathayom school so the students are aged between 12 and 18 and there are around 1900 students in total. The class sizes vary from grade to grade, but the average size is around 35 with no more than 40 in a class. At the school you will be responsible for teaching two of the six grades, either Mathayom 1 and 4, 2 and 5, or 3 and 6 and the lessons here are focussed on teaching conversational English to the students.

The school hours are between 8.00am and 3.30pm except apart from one day where you will have to be on gate duty at 7.15am to Wai the students as they come into school. Assembly then takes place between 8.00am and 8.20am with lessons commencing at 8.30am. Teaching hours are around 18 hours/pw, so you can use your free time at the school planning lessons and researching etc. Curriculum is not provided so you will have to plan/write your own fun and informative lessons. Wifi is available for your use and in certain classes, a computer and projector are available as well.

There are 3 native English speaking teachers working at this school and about 70 Thai teachers, so there is plenty of opportunity to socialise. The Thai teachers here are extremely friendly and have a good level of English, and they are always wanting to take out the foreign teachers to explore the area or go out for dinner.

“All the Thai teachers are so friendly and the students are amazing to teach” - Graeme, Teacher, 2016
